Forearm Pain

Do your forearms bother you when youโ€™re in the gym? ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Forearm aches and pains are very common in people who lift weights heavy and/or regularly. ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿผโ€

Discomfort is common for many other everyday activities but for now, Iโ€™m going to focus on the gym.

Typically people complain about forearm pain during lifts like deadlifts and rows when the forearms need to grip all that weight. Sure, your hammys and glutes are ready to do that new deadlift PR, but your poor hands are literally hanging on for dear life.

There are 18 different muscles in your forearm that help you move your elbow, wrist and hands ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Now that SOUNDS like a lot, and they should be able to keep up with your heavy lifts, right? Well, itโ€™s not quite that simple. Each muscle has a specific job to do, and they donโ€™t always like to work together.

Sure.. Flexor Carpi Ulnaris is the main muscle responsible for flexion of the wrist.. But heโ€™s being lazy. So now Flexor Carpi Radialis has to be the tough guy and gets overworked ๐Ÿ™„

So... How do you fix it?

A combination of things may work to relieve your pain. Massage, acupuncture, stretching, and rehabilitation exercises may help to get things back to normal. Massage calms the inflammation in the muscles, increases circulation to the area to promote healing, and stretches the fascia to give the muscles room to function properly!

So the next time you go for that heavy lift, and hear your forearms screaming, be sure to book in! ๐Ÿ—“
